Project 5

PROJECT 5: PBL AND CLASSROOM POLLS

This practice consists in putting into practice some of the projects carried out so far. For this, we have reviewed the work done during these weeks to choose the one that we think will be the most enjoyable, motivational and educational for the students. In this project we will put ourselves in the place of a real teacher because we should give a session and put it into practice the work done. On this occasion, we have chosen the third project: Creating flashcards and mind maps. So we will have the collaboration of eight year old pupils who are in the fourth of Primary. If you want to obtain more information about the project in practice, access the following website:

To put the work done into practice, we have counted on the help of Fabricio, Lucas and Izan, students of nine years ago. All of them have an adequate level of English at their age but Fabricio interacts more because his level is higher, he attends an academy weekly.

The project was put into practice in a changing room so the atmosphere of the activity wasn’t the most appropriate because they finished playing football and were tired. Nevertheless, the students presented a positive attitude and good predispositión. So, they managed to solve the proposed exercises and attend to the teachers. A warm and trusting atmosphere was created because it was an environment of trust between students and teachers. The pupils had fun and learned a lot.

We didn’t have much time so the activity was developed quickly, but all the exercises of the project were carried out. During the session a small evaluation was performed: the teacher asked a few vocabulary questions to see if the student had learned. We think that the result was acceptable and effective.

At the end of the session, the students told us that they were also working on the same contents at the school. The Halloween event is near. That is why the activities seemed entertaining, motivating and playful. We think that this aspect has favored us when putting into practice the proposed exercises.
Throughout the video we have seen how Fabricio, Lucas and Izan have enjoyed doing the activities.

In conclusion, we think that the project we have put into practice has been useful and acceptable. The vocabulary we have worked on is appropriate to the educational level of Fabricio, Lucas and Izan, fourth grade of Primary. Also, we think we should have used a tablet or a computer instead of a telephone. In this way, the students could have worked better without having to strain their eyes. However, there would be aspects to improve like the context where to carry out the activities or the timetable. Finally, we are happy with the result although it could always be improved.
